- Karts: Each character starts with two karts – a unique special kart and a standard go-kart. Players can unlock a third special kart and eventually use any of the 36 karts with any character.
- Item Boxes: Courses feature numerous item boxes that provide randomly selected items based on the player's current position and the kart's item stat. Leading players get rear-attack items, while trailing players get more powerful items.
